I have the ability of taking on or having a finite or countably infinite number of values--the discrete male.

In the early 1920's W. E. B. DuBois, a prominent Civil Rights Activist, coined the term "double consciousness." This term refers to African-Americans who wear the mask for Whites in order to be more accepted in the world of Whiteness while trying to maintain one's own Africanness or Blackness.

This blog is dedicated to the men, not just Black men, who wear the mask--making certain that the world does not know of his desire to be with other men.

I am one of these men. For the past five years of my life I have worn both masks and its a daunting task that leaves one both physically and mentally inept. I have made the decision to wear the mask in order to advance in both my educational and professional careers.

The inspiration? This blog gives me the opportunity to vent--to discuss those issues, from my point of view, in order to inspire others or at the least, make others think about the struggles of making these types of decisions.

Never will I agree with the fact that homosexuality is an orientation of choice, but the option of keeping it under the pillow definitely is. We live in a world of rules and consequences and we make decisions based upon them. Remember that!
